Americans have Negativity towards Pro Sports in America

"I Don't Blame The, In Fact I'm One of Them.
American Professional Sports DISGUSTS Me" !

"Pro Sports is Filled with a Bunch of Grossly Over-Paid Crybaby Prima Donna Athletes "

I't's Time for a Change. I wish all professional sports in America would implode, the money these guys make is sinful. I'm hoping that the salaries of professional athletes in America will decrease by at least 60% in the next 10 Years. It's a sin for these guys to be paid such Obscene Amounts of Money, when nurses all over the country are risking their lives for a measly few hundred dollars a year, just to barely survive, pay the rent, and put food on the table, and Americans support professional athletes make tens of millions of dollars a year, it's absolutely deplorable. And it's the Fans who pay their salaries, not the owners. When it comes down to it, the fans are the ones paying. How can people be so stupid. They should not support these people (over-paid pro athletes). If Americans were smart, they would Boycott all of professional sports, and just watch amateur athletics. Don't go to games at the stadium and pay $100 plus for a seat, $10 for a Beer, and $6 for a Hot Dog, and maybe $40 to park your car. Stop buying Jerseys that cost $100 or $150, you are contributing to the insanity of the absurd salaries these people make. Hey, I've got nothing against someone making money. But what's wrong with 2 or 3 million dollars a year? That's not enough? I think it is. No, they prima donna's are making 20, 30, 40 Million Dollars a year. This is ludicrous.

I was an avid sports fan for years, at least 25. But when Major League Baseball Players went on strike two times in 5 years, it disgusted me, and I did what I wish at least 70% of American sports fans would have done, I boycotted baseball. I wouldn't go to a game and I wouldn't watch any. I was done. Before this I used to watch the Met's and Yankee's all the time on TV, and my brother Jimmy and I used to got to at least a dozen Met games a year. Not once this guys started getting greedy, I quit. I had it with baseball. I still watched NFL Football. But I even got tired of that after a while and stopped watching all pro sports except: Pro Tennis, The Olympics (my favorite), and World Cup Soccer, the last two came around only once every 4 years, so I almost completely cut sports out of my life for more than 5 years. It's only recently that I started watching sports a little again, but I never would watch an entire game any more, just doesn't interest me that much. There are a lot better things in life to do than waste 100 of hours a year watching dumb sporting events. I've had it. And guess what, I really don't miss it. I'm not that dumb to support these grossly over-paid people. I wish, some how the money could go to the needy, and people who are just trying to get by, instead of paying people 100s of Millions of dollars over there careers, and there are children starving in America. Professional Sports in America is deplorable.

Americans' opinion of the sports industry has plunged in the past year, according to a recent Gallup poll. Of the 25 U.S. industry sectors examined, only the federal government (-20) and the pharmaceutical industry (-15) had a worse net negative rating than the sports industry (-10). In fact, more people had a very positive or somewhat positive view on pharmaceuticals (34) than the sports industry (30).

POLL: What are you more afraid of?
A two-week polling sample from August 2019 was compared to a two-week sample in August 2020, and Americans' opinion of the sports industry declined drastically. There was a drop of 15 points in people who had a very or somewhat positive view of the sports industry, which edged out the travel industry that fell 11 points for the bottom spot.

Based on the recent survey of 1,031 American adults, only 30% of people view the sports industry in a positive light, compared to 40% of Americans who have a negative point of view. In 2019, 45% of Americans held positive feelings for the sports industry and only 25% viewed it negatively.

The nosedive in favorability comes as sports leagues have embraced social justice movements, including Black Lives Matter. The backlash is evident in political bases with positive views from Republicans crashing from +11 in 2019 to -35 in 2020, a devastating 46-point drop. Independents are also shunning sports; going from +26 in 2019 to -10 in 2020, a significant 36-point decrease. Democrats saw a slight decrease from +16 positive rating to a +11 rating.
Non-whites Americans' positive opinions of the sports industry plummeted from +51 last year to only +16 this year, a 35-point decline. White Americans went from +4 in 2019 to -22 in 2020, a 26-point drop in positive outlook.
"Sports has been acutely affected by the twin events steering news and culture in 2020: the pandemic and the renewed movement for racial justice," Gallup wrote. "The sports industry's relationship with fans has been disrupted by the need to shrink its seasons and schedules and play to empty venues as a means of keeping fans and players safe."
"At the same time, the greater social and political activism of players and, in some cases now, coaching staffs and entire leagues appears to have turned off Americans who disagree with their messages or the way they express them," the article read. "The net effect at this point has been negative for the industry's image."
TV ratings also show fans' frustrations in sports this year. The NFL suffered a double-digit ratings drop for its season opener that featured an overwhelming amount of social justice activism.
NBA ratings are down 20% during the playoffs. One poll found that 38% of fans are not watching the NBA because it's "too political."

Mickey Mantle

The most Money The Great Mickey Mantle made was $125,000 a Year

Professional Sports in America Disgust Me ! The obscene amounts of Money these Over-Paid Prima Donnas make is disgusting. We're in a Pandemic and you have 100,000 of nurses who risked (and even lost) their lives for a few hundred dollars a week, and you give Grown Men 10s of Millions of Dollars a year to Play Child's Games. There's Something Wrong Here? It's appalling, disgusting, and Sinful. "I Wish Professional Sports Would Implode" and the prima donnas (pro athletes) Salaries would Drop by at leats 60% ... It's time for a Correction. LOWER SALARIES for Pro ATHLETES !! Please !!

Me and the Man on Wire

Caffe Reggio

Greenwich Village, New York

REMINISCING

I was sitting there at Caffe Reggio. It’s an old Caffe in Greenwich Village, New York, once the World Center of Bohemia, the Beats and Beatniks. Now? I don’t know what it is now, other than despite the neighborhood going down as a result of greedy New York Landlords that keep raising the price of rents to ridiculously absurd price-points, where only the rich can afford them. Mostly all all the cool old restaurants, cafes, funky boutiques, and record shops have mostly all been pushed out of their stores by insanely high commercial rents that barley anyone can afford. It’s the same for commercial spaces and apartments, people just can’t afford them. Except the rich. But this is not what this is about. How the hell did I go off on that tangent? Oh yeah, I was talking about Caffe Reggio.

Thankfully there are a few good old restaurants, cafes, and nightclubs left, Caffe Reggio is one, merely because the owner of Caffe Reggio (Maurizio) owns the building that he inherited from his father. Lucky him, and lucky us that he owns the building, he loves his historical caffe and has no intention of ever closing it. Who knows what will happen one day when he is gone. Hopefully that day is quite a long way off. It’s a long way off since the time that I, as a young boy of 16 first walked into Caffe Reggio way back in 1974. I was still living in Jersey back then. I was into photography (a hobby) and I used to love hopping on a bus in Carlstadt, New Jersey, and heading into the city (New York, NY). I had always loved the City, ever since the first few times my dad drove in, and we were there, New York City. The place was electrifying to me, a young boy from Jersey, and growing up in 1960’s and 70’s America. I was into all sorts of things as a boy. I loved all sports, and played baseball, basketball, and football all the time. And I do mean a lot. And if I wasn’t watchinging one of the 3 major sports of America, I was watching them on TV, the Met’s, the Yankees, the New York Football Giants, The Olympics, and every Saturday at 4 o’clock for years, I watched ABC’s Wide World of Sports with Jim McKay, Howard Cossell, Frank Gifford, Curt Gowdy, and others. They had all sorts of sports that they broadcasted and I loved them all, from: Boxing, to Skiing, Car Racing, Demolition Derby’s and more.

I loved music, listening to the radio, playing with my friends, watching TV, and going for rides in the car with my Dad. My childhood wasn’t always easy, my mother was mentally ill, and my parents had spit up when we were very young. No it wasn’t always easy, but I was a dreamer and dreamt of big things in my future, and I was always full of hope for things I might achieve.
Let me get back to Caffe Reggio. Well very briefly, I’ll keep it short. As I’ve said, I loved photography, so I loved as a teeanager, hopping on the # 35 Bus and going into the city. The bus would take me into The Port Authority Bus Terminal, and I’d make my way down the escalators to the subway, and hop on an A Train that would take me down to Greenwich Village, where I loved hanging out at Washington Square Park, watching all the street performers (Musicians, jugglers, etc.) and taking pictures with my 35mm Camera, and just having a good time. After I hung out in the park for a couple hours, I’d walk around the Village a bit, shooting some shots and making discoveries. Then I’d head over to Caffe Reggio for my Cappuccino, sit there relaxing, dreaming, and watching the world go by. I just loved it. I thought I was cool. And guess what? I was. Sometimes I’d go to The Riviera Cafe for a bowl of Chili, and to hang out. Again, just watching the world go by. Just a couple blocks from the park, there was a place I loved, called The Unique Clothing Warehouse, that sold cheap funky clothes, some army surplus, and all sorts of funky things that a teenager in the 70s would love. I did. The first thing I ever bought there was  a small Norwegian Army canvas bag for just $1.99, I loved it. It was just the right size to put my camera, a pen, small writing pad, and a few other things into.

Long before my teenage forays into Greenwich Village I dreamed of moving to New York City one day. And in particular, I dreamed of living in Greenwich Village. And guess what? I did.

A tumultuous private life followed turbulent business life. Numerous romances, numerous children, and adultery, as well as constant outbursts of aggression, have left Brando forever enrolled in Hollywood history as one of the biggest “Badass” red carpet guys.
Brando reportedly had been in love with Marilyn Monroe for many years, to whom he had appeared in a hotel room one day and had reportedly not gone out for three full days.
