The PERFECT SPONG CAKE

"EASY to MAKE"

RECIPE BELOW

EASY BAKE SPONGE CAKE

INGREDIENTS :

  • 6 eggs,
  • 1 cup of wheat flour 450,
  • 1/2 cup of potato flour,
  • 1 cup granulated sugar,
  • 1.5 tablespoons of vinegar,
  • 2 teaspoons of baking powder,
  • butter,
  • breadcrumbs.

Preparation method:

  1. Before you dive into making the sponge cake, remember that all the ingredients should be at room temperature. Otherwise, they will not blend efficiently and produce a harmonious emulsion.
  2. Once the ingredients are at the correct temperature, you can begin. To start, separate the egg whites from the yolks. Gradually whip the whites, starting at the lowest mixer speed and slowly increasing the power. When the froth becomes stiff, start adding sugar, while consistently whipping.
  3. Mix the egg yolks, vinegar, and baking powder in a separate bowl. Then, combine this mixture with the whipped whites and blend again. Finally, add both sifted flours and stir until the ingredients unify. Grease the cake mold with butter and sprinkle with breadcrumbs. Bake the sponge cake on the middle rack of the oven for half an hour at 356 degrees Fahrenheit. After this time, allow the cake to cool before removing it from the pan.

"MOONWALK"

Andy Warhol

Warhol’s Moonwalk prints from 1987, show the artist turning one of the 20th century’s most historic events into a Pop Art masterpiece Taking Neil Armstrong’s photograph of Buzz Aldrin walking on the moon, Warhol, for the very first time, turns this historic event into a Pop Art masterpiece. Though one might expect this work to have been done at the time of the moon landings in 1969, the prints were actually made in 1987, just a few months before Warhol’s death. It seems as though this subject appeared to Warhol to be important only after the fact, almost two decades later, when he had reached maturity in his career. And while it depicts a profound moment in the history of humanity Warhol adds his playful spin on it, tinting the iconic white astronaut suit with tones of pink in Moonwalk 405 and giving the surface of the moon a toxic green covering in Moonwalk Trial Proof.

The prints were intended to be part of a larger series titled TV which would include other key moments from America’s history such as a still of Martin Luther King Jr giving his famous ‘I have a Dream’ speech and the Beatles’ first appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show. However, Warhol’s untimely death from surgery complications meant that Moonwalk is the only print that was completed, making this an extremely sought after work in his oeuvre.

Moonwalk demonstrates Warhol's unfailing talent for spotting iconic images, and adds his own unique touch, drawing over the original image as well as overlaying it with bright blocks of colour that make it unmistakably a work of Pop Art. Though it captures a specific moment in time, the work is also a timeless classic that will continue to resonate with collectors today.

Since the early ’60s Warhol had been taking iconic images and making them his own. From his earliest portraits of Marilyn Monroe – her face tightly cropped from a publicity shot – he had been playing with notions of fame, appropriation and repetition through the medium of the screen print. Traditionally associated with the world of commercial printing, he was attracted to the large edition sizes that screen printing afforded and the flatness of the finished work’s surface. Warhol embraced the medium to such an extent that it has now become almost synonymous with his name. He enjoyed the effects he could achieve by overlaying colours and playing with the registration. He even described the method as “quick and chancy … you get the same image, slightly different each time.” By creating large numbers of prints, Warhol was ensuring that his work remained accessible to a wide audience, rejecting the snobbery of earlier art movements who put the unique canvas and the artist’s mark above all. Working from his knowingly named studio, the Factory, he resolved to print in large numbers, echoing the media culture from which he pulled his images and remarking that “repetition adds up to reputation.”

History of Capri Pants JackieO Bardot

BRIGITTE BARDOT in CAPRI PANTS

There’s some fashion trends come, go and maybe decades later are resurrected, others never go out of style. Classic, casual, elegant, chic and sporty, the timeless style of Capri has lived on beyond its heyday in the 1950s and 1960s to almost attain the status of a lifestyle. Even today, you can see pieces of Capri-inspired fashion in the collections of the world’s most famous designers.  I love how this iconic style lets me dream of leisurely days spent by the azure shores of the tranquil Italian island of Capri and warm nights under the stars with good friends. Everyone can recognize the signature items of Capri style, including the eponymous pants, but just how well do you know the story of this vintage fashion?

Beyond Capri’s natural beauty and glamorous vacation life, hardly anyone realizes that the island has a long tradition of master tailoring. According to legend, the island’s namesake Capri pants were inspired by the pants of Italian fishermen. In 1948 the  the mid-calf length design, which allowed men to keep dry and have great freedom of movement when they worked in the sea,was given a graceful feminine interpretation by the fashion designer Sonja De Lennart.  While she wasn’t Italian, De Lennart loved vacationing on Capri and dedicated her collection to the island.

Capri were introduced by fashion designer Sonja de Lennart in 1948, and were popularised by her and English couturier Bunny Roger. The name of the pants is derived from the Italian isle of Capri, where they rose to popularity in the late 1950s and early '60s. The actress Audrey Hepburn was among the first movie stars who wore Capris, and the pants quickly became synonymous with her classic style. The French actress Brigitte Bardot notoriously wore Capri pants at a time when trousers were still a new thing for women. Marilyn Monroe always travelled with Capris.

Capris' acceptance in the United States was influenced by the 1960s television series The Dick Van Dyke Show. The character Laura Petrie, the young housewife played by Mary Tyler Moore, caused a fashion sensation – and some mild controversy – by wearing snug-fitting capri pants during the show's run.

By the mid 1960s, Capri-style tight-fitting cargo pants became popular among teenage boys; a good example was the superstar teen actor of that era, Luke Halpin, who wore them in some episodes of the popular Flipper. After a drop in popularity during the 1970s through the 1990s, Capris returned to favour in the mid 2000s.[12] Spanish tennis player Rafael Nadal wore Capri pants in the majority of his matches before 2009 following a deal with Nike to wear sponsored Capris, a deal that Roger Federer had turned down before him. The Thirteenth Doctor from Doctor Who wore Capri pants. Kate Middleton wore Capri pants for outdoorsy events.

In 2017, the superintendent of the Douglas County School District in Georgia sent out an email qualifying Capri pants as inappropriate garments for the school environment, thus raising the question of what pant's length remain acceptable.

Emilio Pucci

The popularity of Capri pants and headscarves is also due in great part to Emilio Pucci who opened his first boutique on Capri in 1950. Pucci’s designs reflected Mediterranean colors, transforming them into a sophisticated kaleidoscope of color – lemon yellow, Emilio pink, lavender, Capri blue, tangerine orange and mint green – that quickly became the designer’s signature style.
